progesterone. This process of hormonal decrease can take several years. It happens between 42 and 56 and is official when the women has not had her period for twelve consecutive months. Peri is the period before your menopause which occurs around the age of 42 and is accompanied with a few symptoms and post is the period after menopause and it is the last period. This stage of life is a unique experience for all women depending on your diet, genes, lifestyle, culture, your attitude on life and your surroundings (family, friends, society). During this stage of life you will experience many symptoms and it would be advantageous and wise for you to look for natural alternative before ingesting multiple pills. This is your body and God’s temple do some research and explore all your options. Symptoms Most women have no or mild symptoms while other have moderate to severe symptoms. Women will experience these menopausal signs differently depending on their diet, genes, and lifestyle some of these signs may include: Breast changes Thinning of the skin Dry skin and hair Hot flashes Insomnia Depression Weight gain Anxiety Night sweats Vaginal changes. Supplements of calcium (talk to your doctor before taking any supplements) Not smoking Exercising Decreasing stress Eating a rich diet of soy Good habits Body cleansing Spiritual therapy Herbal Relief During menopause your levels of estrogen and progesterone decline. Herbs such as agnus castus are as important because they help maintain bone density, reducing the risk of osteoporosis. Maintaining vitality is important during menopause. If you feel low and exhausted, some of these remedies may help to raise your vitality and spirit. St. John’s wort is an excellent medicine for depression. Caution: Seek professional advice if there is prolonged or irregular menstrual bleeding. For decreased estrogen and progesterone levels Chaste tree (Vitex agnus- castus) Take pills, or 20-40 drops of tincture with water each morning. Helonias (Chamaelirium luteum) It is best to take pills but you can also take 20 drops of tincture with water 2 to 3 times a day. Black cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa) Take pills, or take 25 drops of tincture with water 3 times a day. For depression and decreased vitality St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum) Take ½ tsp of tincture with water 3 times a day. Caution: talk to a physician before consuming these herbs. Oats (Avena sativa) ![]() Incorporate 25-50 g of oats in your daily diet. For hot flashes and nigh sweat Sage (Salvia officinalis) Make an infusion and drink 3 cups, either during the day or mainly at night , if this is when the problem usually occurs. White willow (Salix alba), black cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa) Take one of the above herbs, either in pill form or take 1 tsp of tincture with water at night.
