Avoid sleeping pills. Go to bed only when you feel tired. Do not take a shower right before going to bed. Take a nice hot bath. Get up at the same time every day or set up your clock to get up a little early every day. Avoid stress and worries (try to relax). Do not pull all-nighters. Avoid caffeine, tobacco and alcohol at least 6 hours before going to bed. Exercise daily for at least 15 minutes. Avoid daily activities in your bedroom such as eating, reading, working and watching television. By avoiding these activities your body will be program to sleep once you enter the bedroom. Make sure the room temperature is approximately 20 C and that the room is well ventilated. Avoid exercise and bright lights before going to sleep. Avoid late nights or late mornings or nap during the day. Avoid noises at night and wear earplugs if it is unavoidable. Adopt a healthy lifestyle. Your bed should only be used for sleep and sex. If you are unable to switch your mind at night hops is very effective. But do not take it if you are feeling low or depressed. German chamomile-(Chamomilla recutita), linden (tilia spp.), lavender (lavandula officinalis), passionflower (Passiflora incarnata). Using any of the herbs above make an infusion in a covered container using 2tsp/cup of water. You can also take 1 tsp of tincture with water 3 times a night. Chamomille-is a good sedative and calming herb and helps with skin conditions and irritations. Lavender-is a good sedative, ideal for migraines, headache, a calming remedy for the digestive system and soothing for sunburns. Passionflower: is a good sedative, hypnotic, and antispasmodic. Valerian-(Valeriana officinalis), hops (Humulus lupulus), Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata). Take pills containing one or more of the herbs or make a sachet with dried hops and place under your pillow. If you have an overactive mind: Hops-(Humulus lupulus) Take the tincture at night start with 10 drops and go up to 40 drops each night. Hops-anaphrodisiac, nerve tonic, bitter digestive stimulant, diuretic. Caution: Avoid hops if you are depressed. Do not exceed recommended dose. The plant may cause skin rashes.
